Entry Requirements:

  • Every applicant is required to pass the IAST Pre-Qualification Assessment. The Pre-Qualification Certificate expires in six months. If you took the pre-qualification earlier than six months before the intended start of the qualification, you will be required to retake the assessment

  • Completion of a relevant Level 4 qualification (such as a Higher National Certificate or completion of two years of a relevant bachelor’s degree) and/or

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree (including, but not limited to, the following degrees: Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) and/or

  • Master’s degree in Façade Engineering and/or

  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience

Each Short Course can be undertaken individually or as part of the Programme leading to the Level 5 DipFDE Qualification.

Please note that if you choose to build your qualification through credits gained by completing short courses rather than enrolling in the full programme, you will still be required to complete the Assignments and Tutorials Module and pass the Final Exam.

Upon completing all nine short courses, you may upgrade to the full DipFDE programme. This includes written assignments with feedback, individual sessions with the course leader, the DipFDE Final Exam, and qualification registration with the awarding body for successful candidates.   • How long does it take to complete this qualification?

    It depends on work experience, expertise and on how much time you can dedicate to the studies. We expect that the majority of candidates will complete the qualification in three to six months, however, it might take up to a year for some people who are quite new to the industry, and, on the other side, it may take just 2 months for the highly experienced candidates. This qualification is flexible, however, limited to 12 months.

  • What support is available for candidates pursuing this Level 5 qualification?

    Support options offered by the IAST include: - Tutoring and feedback sessions; - Access to an online learning platform with test practice sessions, video tutorials and annotated interactive 3D details. - Final feedback session with the analysis of the Exam results.

  • Is work experience required for this Level 5 qualification?

    The Level 5 DipFDE qualification particularly requires at least two years of relevant work experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, or a relevant Level 4 qualification. Work experience can often be gained through internships, placements, or part-time employment. Work experience, in addition to prior education, is preferable.
